21 movie preview

Just over a week until the big screen adaptation of Ben Mezrich’s awesome “Bringing Down The House” opens. I’m more than a little excited. Not only was the book instrumental in kick starting my own card counting interest and subsequent obsession, but the movie’s being produced by, and stars, Kevin Spacey. “21″ chronicles the mid nineties rise and fall of the infamous MIT Blackjack Team, who won millions of dollars in Las Vegas and around the world through an ingenious combination of card counting and division of labor.
For a primer on the technique and back story, check out Wired’s excellent “Hacking Las Vegas” (apparently the article that got Spacey interested to begin with)
Then, check out the trailer and other tidbits at the official site

Yes! I’m stoked.
So am I! Think we can arange a gathering of sorts? I know Saturday is out of the question due to Justice (awesome!) but perhaps Monday?
Jillian, I love it! It actually opens next weekend (3/28) so it shouldn’t be a problem.
In the scene where the asian woman calls the Professor “dude” and he says “dont call me dude”, he asks the students what the count is:
76 cards, 23 were high with -1 value, 17 were neutral with insignificant or zero value, and the rest were positive one… how could you lose the count”
and one student in the doorway says the count is +13, and is affirmed and asked to take a seat.
so if there were 76 cards,
23 (-1) + (0 x 17) + (76-23-17) = count of +13
