Punching Cat Gang
April 10, 2008 by Greg · 2 Comments

Last night, while drinking some cheap wine at my favorite happy hour in Denver (Gabor’s), my friend Ryan sent me the image he was using as the background for his phone. We then inadvertently formed the punching cat gang. Join by setting this image as your phone background.
How do you get it? I don’t know. Email it to your phone or something. Geeky people please leave comments on how to accomplish this.

grand central telephone service: most effective use
April 9, 2008 by Cash · 5 Comments

Back in December, UM fan and friend Jess wrote a great review of online telephone number-juggler Grand Central. I was hesitant at first, but finally set myself up.
(There is a short wait to get a number, as they’re in ‘beta’. I think it took about a week to receive mine).
Being that they haven’t yet integrated text messaging (which in some ways makes it completely worthless; hopefully Google’s acquisition of GC will allow this in the near future) I’ve found one key use for it so far:
Bachelor Pad: Drinking Water in Style
April 9, 2008 by Greg · 5 Comments

A lot of up and coming locally focused gourmet restaurants here in the Denver are serving their water in empty wine bottles. Deciding to take this practice in my home, I’ve collected a few been saving a few clear glass wine bottles from hitting my recycle bin. Armed with three bottles I decided to do some experimentation. toni leigh - or, why i love my old bookmarks
April 9, 2008 by Cash · 3 Comments

Perusing my Firefox bookmarks for UM post material this morning, I came across something I didn’t recognize. It was a direct link to the (pretty much NSFW) ‘event photos’ here.
I have absolutely no idea when this link was added to the collection, but I can probably figure out why. Perusing her root web site, it would appear Toni Leigh is some sort of a um
Dual Monitor Backgrounds: Display Fusion and Mandolux

Recently I purchased an adjustable height stand for my laptop. This allows me to position the display of my laptop in line my external flat panel monitor. Operating in extended desktop dual monitor mode, I’ve been adding a few tools to increase the productivity. This one though is purely for aesthetics. Read more

When to Buy an Apple Product
April 8, 2008 by Greg · 3 Comments

I put a time limit on my business computers. 2 years on a laptop and 3 years on a desktop. Occasionally I’ll even sacrifice them earlier in favor of a beefier upgrade. My Dell laptop, having made the last 22 months triumphantly, is getting ready for an upgrade. One option I’m considering is an Apple Mac Book. Read more
#7 best place to start a business: denver
Since I’m quite certain Urban Monarch’s readers are an entrepreneurial bunch, I thought I’d highlight a recent nod our hometown of Denver received.
According to CNN Money’s list of “100 best places to live and launch”, D-town is ranked #7 for starting a business.
Productivity: Needs and Wants

For the last two weeks I’ve been talking about getting what you really want by resisting urges and collecting desires. Today I’m going to share the todo list that I’ve been using to make sure the necessities get taken care of as well. Instead of creating a simple todo list, I have a file that I start fresh everyday and save as needsandwants.txt. Read more

Rainbow Kite

My dad sent me this kite for my birthday. I’m already thinking about all the fun I’ll have in the park trying to fly it. Did I mention the park near my house is a gay park?
amazon prime search engine

Although I’m way behind Greg when it comes to my Amazon fanboy status, I seem to be catching up. My first experience with their Amazon mp3 download service was a hit, and I’m finally starting to grasp just how awesome “Amazon Prime” is.

My Birthday… Again!

The years go by so quickly. Let’s all take some time to reminisce over my birthday last year. The candles, the birthday cupcake, the watermark covering the image I was too hung over to notice…
one thing i love: king sized coupons (thanks city grille denver)
April 2, 2008 by Cash · 5 Comments
For as irresponsibly decadent as I sometimes choose to live my life, there’s also a frugal side to me. A veeeery frugal side.
Case in point: KING sized coupons. I’m not talking about “10% off all regularly priced gorditas @ Taco Bell - limited time only!” discounts. I’m not even talking about BOGO (buy one, get one) offers.
I’m talking about coupons so good, and with so little ‘fine print’ that I’m driven to scour the city trying to track down extras.
Birthday Present: Eames DC Shoe

If anyone still hasn’t bought me a birthday present, don’t worry, there is still another day.
Available at common wealth for only $140.
doors open denver 2008

Once a year, downtown hosts an open house called, well, “Doors Open Denver” naturally. All manner of cultural / business establishments offer free tours, sneak peeks and the like. It’s a chance to go behind the scenes and check out some of the city’s architecture at the same time.
It’s a also great excuse to spend a weekend DAY downtown if you’re usually hiding out in the suburbs.
Saturday 4/12- Sunday 4/13
