gambling addict? low on funds? steal from a charity

One of my favorite gambling themed movies is “Owning Mahoney”. Based on a true story, the film features the always brilliant Philip Seymour Hoffman playing a bank manager who embezzles over $10 million to fund his gambling addiction. Apparently, bank managers arn’t the only ones with sticky fingers whose pilfered cash ends up on casino tables.
Productivity: The Change Vacation

The hard thing about altering behavioral patterns is that the mind adheres to a consistent daily sequence. When most everything stays the same, the normal system resists when just a few patterns change. It’s slow hard work that most recommend you need many repeated days before change crystallizes. However, if everything changes then the resistance to change is weakened. This is the theory behind intensive meditation retreats and lengthy personal empowerment seminars. I apply it to travel. sexy in the workplace
February 11, 2008 by Cash · 2 Comments
I’ve seen plenty of examples of hot women excelling in the workplace regardless of their skill set. An article in the National Post highlights both the pros and cons of actively flaunting your sexuality on the job.
reader input: m. night shyamalan / the happening
February 8, 2008 by Cash · 8 Comments

There was a time when M. Night Shyamalan could do not wrong in my scary movie loving eyes. The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs are all classics for me. Then came The Village. Unnerving trailer, excellent concept, great cast: completely pissed away by the most ridiculous ending perhaps ever.
Totally bewildered at his sudden decline, I skipped “Lady in the Water” entirely.
Now we have a trailer for his next film, and I’m equal parts ecstatic and horrified.
Mos Def: Passin the Presidency Like a Party Joint
While most of the video drastically reduces my respect for Mos Def, I have watched it several times if not just for this line.
Hillary Clinton is just another form of dynasty to me. They passin’ the presidency around like a party joint. It goes from the Bushes, the Clintons to the Bushes and back to the…
old magazines: professional poker & drugs

One of the heaviest loads during my recent move was a few boxes of old magazines I once subscribed to. Everything from The Economist & Men’s Health to Maxim, Stuff, etc. I’ve been hanging onto them for a special project I have planned at some point. For now though, randomly grabbing one and leafing through it gave me an idea for a new feature; ‘old magazines’. Basically, anything I come across that I either missed on the initial read, or just find interesting in general.
First up? A pro-poker player talks about his drug of choice, then, and now.
What I’m Listening to: Flobots - Handlebars

After my friend Eric told me to download Denver hip hop group Flobots latest CD, I stuck the song “Handlebars” on repeat. While the rest of the album carries a message that sounds like a combination history lesson, poetry slam, and activist rally, this song leaves the listener space to draw their own conclusions.
thoughts on life: big o tires; wtf?!

It’s rare to find an ad that seems both racist AND creepy at the same time, but Big O Tires’ new campaign featuring “Little O” (pictured above) is just that.
Coachella 2008
February 7, 2008 by Greg · 3 Comments

I just bought a plane ticket and a 3 day pass to Coachella. It’s something I’ve always wanted to go to, but have never gotten around to making it happen. This year my friend Jillian facilitated the planning and everything is set to go. Read more
you’re a pervert
Here I am, linking perfectly innocent footage of an artiste crafting adorable family-friendly drawings, and you’re over there snickering at the completely coincidental anatomical shapes. For shame.
Props to Donnie and his untarnished halo for the link
Bachelor Pad: The Entry Way

The biggest improvement I’ve made in both the functionality and the mood of my apartment is creating an entry way. Apartment Therapy, which I got this and many other good ideas from, calls it a landing ramp, and for good reason. However, I prefer to think of it more as a runway, because it is both collecting things as I come in the door, as well as a providing things as I am often running out the door. Read more
simian mobile disco - hustler video

update: the embed was messed up, the above link should work
Another electro-erotic video for your viewing pleasure, this time from SMD. “Hustler” starts out as an innocent game of ‘telephone’ played at what appears to be an American Apparel model slumber party. Before you know it, a full on lesbian make-out fest. Two little hipsters sitting in a tree.. K-I-S-S-I-N-G.
One Thing I Want: An Anthro eNook
February 5, 2008 by Greg · 4 Comments

Check that thing out! It mounts to the wall, only 7″ thick, stowing my camera, zen, and whatever other personal electronics I deem necessary to hook up to my laptop. Oh, and they have some sweet premium fabrics for the back. This one is called Dwell Coop, but judging from the other names, I’m not sure if it is the official dwell…

ipod shuffle battery life kicks ass
February 4, 2008 by Cash · 3 Comments

There are plenty of things I love about “Kobe”, my silver iPod shuffle. Size-wise, she’s the perfect gym companion. Even in the midst of a brutal cardio workout I hardly know she’s there. She also sounds great, even driving a pair of huge, dorky headphones. Knowing her as well as I do though, she still manages to surprise me. This past weekend I found myself falling in love with her all over again.
Productivity: Buddy System Goals
February 4, 2008 by Greg · 4 Comments

I’ll readily ask a friend to grab a drink, meet some girls, or go out for a weekend in Vegas. However, until recently, I was hesitant to ask if they wanted to join me in a goal. Since I’ve done this though, I’m not looking back. Read more
moving tips: the two day move
February 4, 2008 by Cash · Leave a Comment
I don’t care who you are: moving sucks. One thing I can say though after my own move this past weekend is this; allowing two days to complete the process is a great idea. The first day can be focused on the move itself, while the second day can be reserved for cleaning your old place and tending to whatever other odds and ends are left. It definitely takes some of the stress out of the equation.
I’m listening to Dj Shadow - Organ Grinder
Damn this jam is good.
Who the hell is Tara Busch?

That’s what I was thinking as I watching Namm 2008 videos of the new Fender Rhodes mk7. At first just a simple video explaining the new electric piano and then this fiery red haired hottie cloaked in acid trip aviators shows up. From that point my curiosity was peaked and I found her playing with all sorts of keyboards, dressing up like a nun, and doing naked yoga in one of her original music videos. Read more
iRobot Roomba Red Review

Shortly after I was raining praises on the simple joys that sweeping your apartment brings, I picked up a slickdeal for a remanufactured iRobot red. To my surprise it was actually green (and has a note on the box that says color may differ from the product photo.) I think this amazon review was the tipping point in my decision to purchase one.
Surprised and happy is my current state of mind. This thing seems to have a life of its own, and I believe it loves to clean. Set it down on your broom-swept, looks-clean floor, and prepare to be surprised. At the end of the cycle, you will find a full dust bin of stuff that was still on (and in) your floor.
