u23d movie review
Several years ago, during the first leg of their “Vertigo” tour, I saw U2 at the Pepsi Center. Well, ’saw’ isn’t exactly the right word. Through an entirely unfunny ‘comedy of errors’ getting our $85 tickets, we ended up sitting behind the stage.
Waaay behind.
As in, behind the stage AND behind a two story stack of […]
Driving Thru the Keys
One of the coolest parts about visiting the Florida Keys is the drive over all the bridges. I videoed one of the cooler bridges on the trip.
Spend 5 minutes (or more likely, 3 hours) waiting in line at a Las Vegas club and it’s pretty obvious people working there are doing okay. Most are sporting expensive suits and an air of superiority only two things can inspire; power and money.
How much money these people are earning however, amazes even me.
Leave it […]
Key Deer
Last time I was in the Florida Keys I spent several hours tracking the elusive key deer. This endangered subspecies of white tailed deer stand only two and a half feet tall. I had no luck seeing one. I am hopeful for a spotting this time.

MSTRKRFT tour 2008
Currently hard at work on a full length album due later this year, MSTRKRFT will be preaching their dirty, electrified brand of indie-synth-rock at the Church nightclub here in Denver next Thursday night.
Needless to say, I’ll be there.
There’s no dingy rock ‘n’ roll club that they can’t turn into a sweaty, over-sexed rave.” -XLR8R

Trivia from Plant Geeks
Currently I’m riding in a green Honda Element en route to my brother’s wedding in Key West. My travel companions are all horticulturists with advanced degrees and differing specialties. As we pass various foliage in the everglades, our conversations often seem to lean towards plant fodder.
Without further ado, here are 3 random bits of trivia […]
Back when I worked for one of the nation’s top 5 brokerage firms, business trips to NYC weren’t uncommon. One of my best meals at the time came via a broker’s invitation (and use of his expense account) to Gallagher’s Steak House. If my single malt scotch-infused memory serves, the bill was around $800. For […]
wednesday noon post
I’m too busy thinking about Eames chairs to write my noon post.
Have a great afternoon everyone.
denver restaurant week 2008
Just a reminder to everyone in the metro area that I haven’t already harassed via text, smoke signal, door to door reminder, etc: it’s Denver Restaurant Week again.
The only time of the year where you can sample some of Colorado’s most expensive restaurants for a steal; $52.80 gets TWO people three courses. My own review […]
Flying to visit the family one trip, I sat next to a bachelorette party bound brunette girl who offered me a piece of travel advice I’ve followed almost every time, take public transportation to the airport. In Denver, there are a few options. A bus from downtown will get you to the airport in about […]
warren buffet on lifestyle envy
Of course the whole dialogue between Mr. Berkshire Hathaway and students of Emory’s Goizueta Business School and McCombs School of Business at UT Austin is awesome, but there’s one quote in particular I wanted to share:
In my personal life too, I don’t care what other rich people are doing. I don’t want a 405 foot boat […]
Man Kitchen
Faithful reader Caroline sends us this link for the new man’s kitchen.
Since the world’s marketers have become aware that women account for more purchasing power than they’ve previously been given credit for, there’s been a distinct lack of “women’s domain” appliances designed for men. Recognizing that men are showing an increasing interest in developing the […]

Toothpaste For Dinner
Although I briefly went on a ‘low information diet’ from all things news/non-essential on the web (per Tim Ferriss’ excellent suggestion in 4HWW), I’ve found my addiction harder to beat than I thought.
In my defense, I have set up a pretty effective way of getting my fix; devoting the first 20 minutes or […]
For a while I had a friend in my life who was a nutritionist. I often quizzed her on healthy food choices and inquired about her interactions with her clients. One thing she told me surprised me and has stayed with me since. It went something like this.
“Greg, the people who come […]
Scarlett Johansson is readying an album’s worth of Tom Waits covers called “Anywhere I Lay My Head”. David Bowie is set to appear on two of the tracks.
On Mr. Bowie’s influence on her sex lfe:
I learned I was a sexual being through David Bowie’s songs
Scarlett Johansson’s simmering sensuality on screen has made her more than […]
u2 recording new album
After the cataclysmically boring “How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb”, my first reaction to hearing the news was “meh”. I suppose I should try to stay positive, Achtung Baby ranks as one of my favorite albums ever. Either way, the band is back in the studio with longtime production partners Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois.
We’re […]
Shotgun Apartment Tour
In New Orleans there is a common building layout style called a shotgun apartment. Essentially it is a multi-roomed dwelling without hallways. This means the only way to get to other rooms is by walking through them.
name that picture
At my old place, I used to like leaving a strange/interesting picture on my countertop, along with some paper and a pen. When people would come over, I’d ask them to jot down their thoughts on it. Some would try to title the ‘piece’, others would just comment. Here’s your chance to join in the […]
I love renting a place with a kitchen. While eating out is something I explicitly enjoy, when eating every meal out of the home it turns to more of a chore than anything else. Renting a place with a kitchen lets me keep my simple and easy meals at home. However, every time I’ve rented […]
zipfizz energy drink review
I heart stimulation.
‘Well rested from a good night’s sleep’? Booooring. I’m talking about being well rested AND all hopped up besides. To this end, I try plenty of energy drinks. Most include mega doses of caffeine, guarna, B12, and other herbal weirdness in various combinations. Most also taste awful, can end with a huge crash, […]
Packing aids are usually used to help organize the innards of a suitcase. They give the otherwise open space inside a compartmentalized structure with boxes for shirts, socks, shoes, and whatever else you may want to bring along. Cash even uses a flat shirt packing aid to help keep a stack of dress […]
