Besides its convenient location just steps away from the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, The Corner Office  restaurant and martini bar’s amazing happy hour has made it a regular Urban Monarch haunt.

After many requests a new book has been chosen for the Urban Monarch Book Club. I bring to you, The King of Methlehem: A Novel by Mark Lindquist. Pick it up by Wed Aug 29 because that’s when the first reading assignment will be issued.
Instead of telling you what the boring magazine and newspaper reviewers [...]

Live The Dream

21Aug07
by Greg

I’m on a continual path, each day getting a little bit closer to what I want to be doing. I’d rather be living my dream right now though. Dumb Little Man offers 22 suggestions from figuring it out all the way to achieving it.

The thought of getting even partially undressed with my coworkers is stomach turning at best.  According to a recent article on Knox News however, some companies disagree with me.

Organizing Life

Two weeks ago I eagerly attended the grand opening of The Container Store in nearby shopping district Cherry Creek.  I bought a custom drawer organizer and rushed home to score plastic pieces making a very sweet flatware drawer.  I am obsessed with giving everything a place in my home.  With little question, I like the [...]

how to use caffeine

20Aug07
by Cash

During my research on Biphasic sleep techniques, one simple tip about caffeine consumption caught my eye and has proven helpful since.

Last week, I was leisurely checking my email in the afternoon when I got the familiar myspace email notifying me that I had a new message waiting.  Paying little attention I went about meandering the web.  A few minutes later I had 3 more myspace notifications.  Wtf? This warranted my immediate attention.
Getting to my inbox [...]

In what can only be called music to my, er, eyes Jessica Biel has disclosed a contractual obligation for full frontal nudity in her new movie.  At least.

You can take the white trash out of the trailer, but you can’t take the trailer out of the white trash; even with $27 million dollars in the bank.

Walking Man Battle

You should be happy I’m not posting Rihanna and Rachel Stevens clips, because, honestly, that’s what I’ve been watching.  It took me 15 minutes to find this clip that I had watched earlier in the week. I’m thinking about saving a bunch of clips like this, burning them to DVD, and playing them at my [...]

all saints clothing u.k.

Just in time for fall (probably a month and a half away here in Denver) Thrillist digs up the goods on a hip clothing line from across the pond.

I’d never heard of Johnathan Lee Riches until I stumbled upon his recent filing of a $63 quintillion lawsuit against some football player named Michael Vick.
Judging by the list of past defendants; you’re probably next.

UM’s resident lord of the dance Greg is a chameleon at the club; he can go from doing tango to salsa to the robot in the course of a single song.  I have a few moves of my own, and at least in a traditional ‘nightclub’ setting, have no qualms about showing them off.
For a [...]

Just a few days after I sent back my broken items back to their manufacturers I received an email from Creative Labs titled “Your RMA Has Been Shipped.” Excitedly I tracked the package. It arrived only 8 days after I had originally dropped the broken headphones off at the post office. In [...]

cassette tape culture

Growing up in the erm, ‘golden age’ (my friends would likely say stone age -jerks!) before even CD’s were widespread, I spent more than enough lonely nights putting together moody mixtapes for the objects of my teenage desire.
Although the process was painfully slow, the sound quality often awful, and the chance of a melted masterpiece [...]

The Freakonomics blog is jumping on the pickup arts with a new entry dissecting negging.  While they get the technique completely wrong, calling it an insult rather than a playful tease, there is still interesting information in it.  In the article they feature a recent study about why men insult their intimate partners and the [...]

After reading some of the ahem, “male empowering” posts on UM as of late you might think the answer is simply “Because they’re men.  They do as they please.” While this certainly may be the case, there’s apparently a few other factors involved.

I’ve given away moving boxes and old yoga journals, sold synthesizers and concert tickets,  bought a dining room table and a bed, and found employment on craigslist.  It also entertains me.  Especially with rants like this.
After a long chat about life, politics, and your future career in interior design, you asked me, a man nearly [...]

The issue of whether or not bottle service is worth it is one we’ve been pondering for close to a year. After our jaw dropping experiences in Las Vegas however (albeit with comped bottle service), I think I’ve finally recognized that the benefits far outweigh the costs; both financially and otherwise.

It’s apparently the week of celebrating our raw manliness at Urban Monarch, especially with posts like these.  Seduction Labs helps us continue this theme with their Man Code.  50 rules and principles to help each man keep his man points.
Here are a few amendments.
1.  Thou shall not rent the movie Chocolat.  [UM Amendment: However, if [...]
