david beckham fashion quotes
July 31, 2007 by Cash · Leave a Comment
David Beckham has been something of a sartorial hero for ‘metrosexuals’ and even many ‘traditional’ guys for ages.
There’s a great article in the Salt Lake Tribune (of all places!) featuring some soundbite worthy comments on his sense of style. I’ll kick things off with my favorite; a pointed observation on the sad state of most American men’s choice in clothing:

With UM’s resident ’sexpert’ Greg out of the UM offices for a few days during his move, it’s my duty to share a great piece on the current season’s role in sexy time.
frontier airlines kicks ass
July 31, 2007 by Cash · Leave a Comment

I’ve long been a fan of Frontier airlines.
Their service has always been incredible (once, while snowed in @ DIA with a ticket for a United flight Frontier came to the rescue and got me on a plane early the next morning with no penalty / problems), the prices cheap (typical Denver to Vegas flights can be had for $125 round trip, Phoenix for the same, Los Angeles just slightly higher, etc.) and the overall vibe I get from the cabin crew is always upbeat and positive.
Well, as part of last week’s Las Vegas boondoggle I learned how amazing their frequent flyer program is too.

With last week’s Las Vegas adventure sadly behind me, I thought I’d share a few final thoughts on the experience.
tryst nightclub review
Upon arriving at the Wynn hotel Thursday night we found ourselves standing at the windows of a Ferrari/Maserati dealership. Looking out over the multi-million dollar sea of luxury cars, we knew our experience at Tryst nightclub inside would be unique. I had no idea just how unique.
Summer of Cirque - Ka
July 26, 2007 by Greg · 6 Comments

Yesterday we saw Cirque du Soleil’s Ka in the MGM Grand. The $135 million theatre features multiple stage platforms that twist and turn in horizontal and vertical positions through out the entire performance. The show was nothing short of amazing. Anyone headed to Vegas this summer should take advantage of Ticket Master’s Summer of Cirque promotion, nabbing $50 tickets to shows like Ka, Mystere, and Zumanity.
Tangerine Nightclub Review
July 26, 2007 by Greg · 2 Comments

Last night we hit the Las Vegas club scene at Tangerine. Located on the ground level of Treasure Island this smaller venue is bathed in orange and features an outdoor patio facing the pirate lake. With a line wrapping around the casino it takes a while to enter this local rich club, but those wise enough to get a table in advance are ushered in through the front and escorted through managed pathways to their private space. Body English Nightclub Review - Ministry of Sound
July 26, 2007 by Greg · Leave a Comment

Before hitting Tangerine on Wednesday night, we stopped in to do a quick walk through of the new Ministry of Sound night blossoming at Body English. Located in the Hard Rock, a short cab ride away from the strip, Body English features one medium sized dance floor with vip tables overlooking from the 2nd level. While we didn’t stay long enough to see if the night picked up, if house is your thing, this is may be your place.
pure nightclub review
July 25, 2007 by Cash · 4 Comments

When rolling at celebrity rich PURE nightclub in Caesar’s Palace, there’s only one way to truly experience the night; from the roped off VIP patio overlooking the strip. After spending a few moments waiting in the guest line we were whisked inside by our host Lance. A quick tour of the giant club ensued. There was the Pussycat Dolls lounge to our left (where Greg would fall in love with the gyrating dancers later), the secluded “red room” to the right, and then the massive main dance floor; overflowing with beautiful women and seductive energy. From there, we were escorted to the glass elevator. On walking out into the simmering July evening, two things were quickly apparent; the neon charged view from our balcony-side table was rivaled only by that of the gorgeous girls strolling by on the other side of the rope, and that of our lovely waitress Jessica pouring our Effin Vodka Red Bulls.

“Well… Zach made it back…”
That was my first thought as I slowly returned to consciousness this morning. Even as a writer, it’s hard for me to describe the things I’ve done in the past 16 hours since landing in Vegas. It’s difficult to identify whether the tingling in my body is pure excitement or the lingering effects of the multiple energy drinks still in my system. Read more

Urban Monarch is full of surprises. No sooner than we’d posted our plans for this debauched Las Vegas adventure than reader Chris commented wanting to join us for a drink before our departure. Unfortunately, our schedules didn’t match up. To our surprise, and absolute (pun certainly intended) delight Chris had a suprise in store for his friends at UM. A bottle of Absolut delivered to our room with his compliments? But of course. Chris, our thanks is drunken and eternal.

Hello Vegas

We’ve arrived in Vegas. After a minor scare involving a denied standby flight from the e-checkin machine, I got on the same flight as Cash and Zach. The priceline standby worked. I’ll check back in shortly as we’ve just setup our hotel bar and it’s time for a cocktail.

Priceline Actually Works

Cash started planning the vegas trip several weeks ago, but I couldn’t commit till just recently. Looking to join my two friends on a fun trip less than a week away, flights were way too expensive. After a few days of configuring hotel packages, investigating greyhound routes, and deliberation over the safety of hitchhiking, I decided to give name your own price flying a try. Read more

200 bad comics
July 20, 2007 by Cash · 3 Comments
Sometimes, it’s the little things that remind us why we’re friends with people. In the case of “The Other White Zac” (I have to differentiate), him passing along a link to “200 bad comics” did the trick. I can officially say his sense of humor is as warped as mine. Reading these had me literally ‘laughing out loud’ several times over.
Good to know you, Zac.
Dancing Girl

In honor of Cash’s recent daft punk tickets prize, we have a video of a girl dancing to harder, better, faster, stronger. Apparently the song was slowed down and then the video sped up to create the effect.

stars - in our bedroom after the war review
July 20, 2007 by Cash · 4 Comments
With the synthetic heartbeat of a deep, electronic bass drum, a sweeping wave of strings and a mysterious vocal sample, Stars’ latest opus ‘In our bedroom after the war’ begins. I’ve always called Stars the perfect interim band as I wait for the next Postal Service album (think angelic arrangements and a brilliant indie-pop sensibility that delicately dances the line between manic and depressive) and IOBATW doesn’t disappoint.
