the hairless male
I’ve long been an advocate of the smooth, hairless look. Some may (and do) scoff at my choice, but for me it reflects a clean asthetic I’m comfortable with.
According to a recent article in the Washington Post, the trend is definitely catching on.
ActiGraph ActiTrainer
This morning I got a call from ActiGraph and their new all round biofeedback device is fresh out of testing and will be here the end of the week. The ActiTrainer is not only a sleep monitor, but it also records heart rate, calorie expenditure, steps, and more. The sleep monitoring is a new function [...]
When I’m in a committed relationship, I take fidelity very seriously and am proud of the fact that I have never strayed. Right now however, I’m enjoying the freedom and fun that comes with more casual dating, which takes ‘cheating’ out of the equation.
How about you Urban Monarch readers?
Have you ever cheated on your significant [...]
unthirsty: happy hour radar
Just in time for the weekend; a Google maps mash-up that matters. Unthirsty lets you input your location and find out not just happy hours in the area, but happy hours that are happening *right now*. Other information on offer includes whether or not the location offers wi-fi(?), food specials, outdoor seating, etc.
I can’t believe [...]
Why Must I Cry
My friend Clair has hooked me on this internet rapper’s self produced video.
This song is about a man whom befriended a fatherless ghetto boy. The boy stole from him time and time again. This video also speaks of a man who fathered twins with a woman he felt no love for. This song is highly [...]
for sale: express stores
Limited brands, owners of the venerable Express for Men and Express stores (in addition to a slew of other retail brands including Victoria’s Secret and White Barn candle) have announced they are divesting the ‘underperforming’ Express.
As much as I like to cry out the agony of going to work, if I had the choice, I would still write computer programs. It’s a field I’m excited by. Discover’s new preview article on artificial intelligence further cements this for me. Focusing on programs created to simulate human conversation, [...]
cubicle exercises
For the time being, I’m chained to the slate gray walls of a cube for 8 hours a day. I definitely take my share of ‘breaks’; walking upstairs to get water for my coffee / tea, heading to the one stairwell where my cell phone actually gets a signal, etc. Nonetheless, I spend the majority [...]
Uses For Saved Text Messages
Cash is a sentimental guy. He saves all sorts of text messages that remind him of the good times for when he is old, gray, and in a sad state. While this is more of a recent fascination for me, I’ve been subscribing to saving text messages for a few alternative reasons.
Last night, on our way to the (absolutely jaw dropping) Bjork concert at Red Rocks I learned about Wolfe’s BBQ. According to Greg, who’d dined there for dinner prior they feature a BBQ Tofu (vegetarian, holla) unlike anything he’s ever tasted.
Intrigued, and feeling a general craving for BBQ (the meatier the better for me, mind [...]
I detest people who constantly correct others grammar. If it is not something for publication or a recurring issue, then just shut up. However, from time to time, it seems we all need a refresher in our native language. Enter English 101.
“You never get a second chance to make a first impression.”
It’s an age old cliche, but it still holds true, perhaps nowhere more so than in a club/bar situation. Why? As you step into a room, you become a suddenly dynamic element in a previously static environment. This translates into one thing; people noticing you. [...]
Spotlight On Paraguay
Well, if you know me in real life, you may be singing praises in private for I’ve finally stopped talking about sexual evolution and moved on to new topics, mainly my new favorite country, Paraguay. Since those of you out in the internet don’t get to enjoy my juicy tidbits of trivia on a [...]
Crown publishing was kind enough to send us a copy of Timothy Ferriss’ “The 4-Hour Workweek” and I’ve been devouring it anxiously since. Although I’m only 1/3 of the way through (and plan a full featured review on completion), one suggestion under the “Low Information Diet” section struck me as both so important and so [...]
Skip The Gym, Get The Facial
A new study performed by the University of Western Australia finds that faces are more valuable than bodies for overall atractiveness. The participants, though severely limited in sample size, were asked to view photos varying in shot content from facial portraits to full body shots.
They found that faces account for more of the variation among [...]
the tie: dead or alive?
Sometimes, on a whim, I’ll throw a tie on with a button up shirt, cover it with a graphic tee, and head out on the town. This look would no doubt be to the chagrin of some of the ladies in my life, but I like it. I’m actually planning on adding a few ties [...]
Personal Finance Advice takes a unique approach on the dual income scenario. In her latest post, she asks the question, “Is it worth it for both people in a relationship to work for the money?”
poll: the text message break up
I’ve never agreed with the idea of breaking up with someone via text message, but as they become more ‘legitimized’ as a means of communicating, maybe my viewpoint is old school.
What do you think?
Is it ever okay to break up via text message?
Yes
No

The downtown Denver Walgreens is good for a lot of things. A moment of unintentional comedy as some lunatic homeless guy in a santa suit sings off key Christmas carols in the middle of June? Sure. Random encounters with suprisingly fetching young girls in the greeting card aisle circa 11PM on a Wednesday night? Check. [...]
Persuasive Insurance Arguments
This video asks a lot of tough questions about why insurance is so expensive. Things we’ve all wondered like:
If I become a eunich, can I get female auto insurance rates?
Can I get an auto insurance quote based on penis size?
Are 25th birthdays like second puberties for driving?
Thanks Cory for the link.
If there’s one thing I never thought I’d own, it’s soap on a rope. I’m just not a ’soap on a rope guy’ (if such a guy exists). Still, when the fine folks at Gemini Cosmetics sent us essentially the whole Tommy Bahama product line (to be reviewed in depth via a [...]
