How to Remove an Ink Security Tag
March 12, 2007 by Greg · 4 Comments

Mr Ports found himself in a predicament. He had an important meeting, no time, and a new suit with a security ink tag still attached. Not being one to back down, he figured out how to remove it on his own. After that, he couldn’t stop himself, and continued to dissect the security tag. Read more
poll: how will you spend your extra daylight hours?
With daylight savings time already upon us, I was curious as to what everyone has in store for their early evenings.
It’s probably no surprise that I look forward to sipping a Corona (or perhaps margarita, or better yet a combination of the two) on an outdoor patio, soaking up the sunset and mingling with the ladies.
How about you?

After my recent expose on the “uplifting” world of Adderall, I thought I’d do a bit of research into more natural ways of perking up.
Youtube To Go (Downloading Youtube Videos)

Instead of my weekly feature on what’s hot in online video, I’m going to share a tip I discovered last night. I was watching a few movies that Cash had sent me when my dodgy internet kept flaking out on me. Frustrated by the intermittent pauses in my videos, I decided to find away to download this content. Sexpo Review
March 9, 2007 by Greg · 7 Comments

Two weekends ago, I headed out to Sex & So Much More, or, as we like to call it, the sexpo. I had never been before so I went without any previously formed opinions. Last year, when the expo was in town, the city seemed flooded with a mob of chumpy looking guys wearing big grins hoping to get a view of Jenna Jameson and an autograph from Ron Jeremy. I didn’t want to be one of those guys. Read more

Last night, Greg and I found ourselves enjoying the company of some new(ish) aquiantances at Gelazzi, a downtown gelato shop.
Eventually, talk turned to the paranormal. After discussing various ideas about ESP, Greg and I preceded to do our ‘intuition’ exercises, which (though different from a technique perspective), both seek to divine personal information about people via the power of our subconscious minds.
I’m not gonna lie to you; last night’s attempts fell somewhat flat (one thing I will mention that I missed? I’d be willing to bet a drink that girl was left handed).
Still, trying to delve a bit deeper into someone’s personality or mind can be a fun departure from the typical ‘how was your day’ maschocism that taints so many intimate conversations.
Given that a large share of votes in our ‘Best place for a first date’ poll have gone to ‘Coffee’, it makes sense that peering into the future via an empty cup of java might appeal to some of our readers.

Godless Money

Although religion has been a hot topic around Urban Monarch, this article has more to do with a US Mint mix up than heretic conspirancy.
An unknown number of new George Washington dollar coins were mistakenly struck without their edge inscriptions, including “In God We Trust,” and are fetching around $50 apiece online.
adderall: self medication for the now generation
March 7, 2007 by Cash · 5 Comments

On Urban Monarch’s recent trip to Phoenix, one night came to a bizarre conclusion that can only be called ’surreal’.
Picture running across a sprinkler strewn golf course after climbing over a 6 foot adobe wall while trying to escape the clutches of a deranged, ginormous lesbian cabbie, and you’re on the right track.
Then imagine hiding out in the pitch black living room of some college flop house while said cabbie drives slowly up and down the street trying to track you down.
Oh, and you’re drinking luke warm pabst out of the can while listening to a michael jackson / crazytown mashup being spun by some DJ who’d set up a club-grade PA system in the corner of the kitchen.
You’re here because of adderall.
Or at least the failed, slightly insane decision to try and score some.
Guy Friends

Here at Urban Monarch we thought it apt time to start honoring our friends. We’ve been resistant to add links to our side bar because we wanted to keep the site free of link-exchange types. Now that we’ve been around for a while and developed some blogger friends, it’s time to show some love.
Our first two links were easy. What do we love? Drinks and Las Vegas. Visit our friends at Liquor Snob for all things alcoholic and Jack Colton for all things larger than life in Las Vegas.
parking meters for the homeless
March 7, 2007 by Cash · 4 Comments
Denver is one of the nation’s worst cities when it comes to panhandlers. Living in the heart of downtown, I can certainly attest to this fact. I seldom walk more than 2 blocks without being accosted by someone who ‘just needs 53 more cents to catch the bus back to Silverthorn’ or the like.
I don’t give money to the homeless.
I prefer to donate to charities (such as the Denver Rescue Mission) who provide more than a 350ml of Wild Turkey in an effort to get someone back on the path to self reliance.
The problem of panhandlers is compounded by the fact that I enjoy hanging out with Greg. He has a true penchant for actively engaging any stray lunatic who wanders within earshot.
Denver mayor John Hickenlooper to the rescue then, with a new initiative aimed at silmutaneously reducing the number of panhandlers while supporting groups that constructively fight homelessness.

improving itunes : automatic concert calendar

iTunes is the most streamlined, asthetically pleasing, and user friendly jukebox out there in my opinion.
Certain plugins (Volume Logic for instance) have taken something good and made it even better.
The always insightful Thrillist just pulled back the covers on what may be the coolest iTunes improvement yet.
urban monarch: ahead of the digg curve
March 5, 2007 by Cash · 3 Comments

My daily visits to Digg start early and stay frequent as the sun slowly burns its way across the Denver sky.
It’s an awesome place to find sometimes strange, always addictive content which is voted to prominence on the Digg home page by one of the web’s most devout digital democracies.
In the past, we’ve ‘dugg’ UM stories we thought were relevent to the digg nation, but as we’re not focused on technology, most of our stories arn’t a good fit.
The advantage of having one of our stories on Digg (if one ever made it to the home page by receiving enough votes) is simple; massive traffic.
In other words, thousands of new readers would find out about Urban Monarch, and perhaps end up being repeat visitors- further expanding our burgeoning community of the modern male.
Imagine my surprise, (and subsequent dismay) when I saw a post on Digg which uber-savvy web sleuth Greg had unearthed TWO months earlier than the diggers themselves.

poll: best spot for a first date?
March 5, 2007 by Cash · 2 Comments
We at Urban Monarch spend plenty of time discussing the wild world of dating.
We’re constantly searching for ways to improve ourselves and the experiences we have, especially in the realm of socializing.
There will be much, much more to come on that topic in the months that follow, but for now, a simple question:
Where’s the best spot for a first date?
My vote goes to wine tasting. It’s an excellent way to incorporate conversation, booze, and food into an intimate night out.
What do you think?
mark & jill’s sweet pinball collection
March 2, 2007 by Cash · 4 Comments
If there’s one thing most people don’t know about me, with very good reason, it’s that I used to be a HUGE Kiss fan. You heard me. From kindergarten through maybe 4th grade, I couldn’t get enough.
The toy guitar? Check. Remote controlled van? Yep. Dressed up as Gene Simmons (makeup and high heel boots provided by my mom) like 3 Halloweens in a row? Oh yeah.
I even had the much coveted Kiss dolls (the originals, not the crazy ‘battle ready’ nerd candy available today).
One thing I always drooled over, and dreamt of, and wished upon falling stars for, and plotted a bank robbery to fun the purchase of was the Kiss pinball machine.
Apparently, “Mark & Jill” of south Florida were more resourceful.
Hamster Dancing Man
I really have no commentary to go along with this. The video truly speaks for itself.
