If you’re mentally stable and you know clap your handgun.. if you’re mentally stable and you know it clap your handgun..

I’ve been putting in effort lately to pay people to do things that I don’t want to do anymore.  Things like laundry, cleaning, and cooking.  While talking to my friend glenn about my latest preoccupation, a personal assistant, he recommends I outsource it.  After a little googling on the topic, I found this charming, albeit [...]

Happy Friday everyone.  In today’s exciting edition of AVIH we find our heroic reporters enjoying a delightful, family friendly stroll through their lovely complex.

Well, this isn’t one of our normal funny friday youtube videos, but interesting none the less. Hell, I’ve never seen anyone tasered before. It sounds pretty painful.

Find a Personal Chef

I’ve been looking to hire people to handle all sorts of things lately: sell my car, do my laundry, cook my meals. The last I was pretty unsure about. Luckily I found a great resource over at eHow. Here’s the tip that yielded a handful of choices in my area.

Sometimes you stumble upon an apartment with neighbors you know you can count on.
As people. As friends. As decent human beings.
This is not one of those times.

drinking: super absinthe

18Jan07
by Cash

I’ve always been fascinated by absinthe.
The tales of its muse-like quality in the 18th century, people’s descent into madness under its neon green spell, and the description of its intoxicating effects being almost narcotic in their power have me hooked. After all, even consummate genius and super witty wordsmith Oscar Wilde sang its praises.
I’ve [...]

by Greg

Your new years goal may have been to lose a little weight, but a few weeks in, your lean cuisines might be tasting a little bland. The University of Rochester advises that you take a look at your alcohol consumption as a source for those extra pounds. The reason why beer gets you [...]

17Jan07
by Greg

I have a strong, albeit strange, fascination with animals.  I am especially fond of the ones that are really funny looking and/or have funny names.  EDGE, a non profit conservation organization, has released a list containing many of these animals. Actually it’s a list of the top 100 evolutionarily distinct and globally endangered mammals.

music: dntel

Young hipster girls. One of life’s many blessings.
Perhaps nowhere is this more apparent than at your local indie coffee shop; where the tattooed femme fatales pour forth musical wisdom as often as sarcasm and java.
One recent revelation at my own favorite ‘European cafe’ (which I think is code for ’serves booze AND coffee’ a fact [...]

Ah sarcasm, is there anything it can’t do?

Aaah, to be young, goggled, and free.
And within 5 feet of Jessica Alba wearing a variety of bikinis.
Our mortal enemies / BFF over at Doubleviking.com have written a hilarious open letter to this lucky young lad.

beat the breathalyser

A new pill recently introduced overseas claims the dubious distinction of reducing your blood alcohol content (dramatically) without impacting your sense of intoxication.
Dangerous? In this ‘alchohol enthusiast’’s opinion: hell yes.

Apartment living, ain’t it grand?
For those of us lucky enough to find a safe, clean place in a good location, of course it is.
For everyone else though, renting a place can be an exercise in frustration so grueling, so traumatic that they turn to the internet to vent their anger.
And we turn to the internet [...]

best cheap beer?

15Jan07
by Cash

I heart beer.
Most beer.
Imported beer, domestic beer, micro-brews, you name it.  I’m an equal opportunity imbiber.
Sometimes though, only the cheapest will do.  A example of this, for me, is at the bowling alley; where anything other than a pitcher of Bud Light seems positively forbidden.
How about you?  Favorite cheap suds?

I stole the 4pm post today to get a chance to write a little homage to long time Urban Monarch contributor Glenn.  Glenn will be pursuing a PhD in child psychology. Instead of helping the inner child in all of us screwed up men, he’ll be starting at the source.  Thanks Glenn for all the [...]
