Slow Kylie Minogue = George Michael

September 8, 2006 by Greg · 3 Comments

Here is a bit of Friday fun that freaks me out. Kylie Minogue slowed down sounds just like George Michael.  Gasp.  Very Similar to the Fast Muse = Gwen Stefani clip.

fast food nutritional info

In a drunken haze, I’ve occasionally been known to fall off the health wagon and stumble my way into a meal I hope to forget the next morning.

Most often however, I wake up fully aware of my dietary downfall.

To make matters worse (or better perhaps, from a ‘facing the music’ perspective) I’ll often check out the true damage done using Calorie King’s informative, easy to navigate Fast Food database.

From Burger King’s 47g of fat, 760 calorie Whopper, to 7-11’s (take a deep breath Glenn, I know I did) 34g fat, 550 calorie Big Bite (that’s each, without even considering the cheese and chili), Calorie King will depress or inspire you, likely in equal doses.

The way that a man feels in a suit is unparalleled.

The confidence that comes from a well fitted suit can help him feel taller, slimmer, more muscular and elegant all at the same time.

His appearance can change instantly under the cover of a quality suit, yet for all of its strengths most men can find the suit intimidating. Read more

Men’s Designer Fragrances

One of my favorite luxuries are designer fragrances.  A personal fragrance communicates a message of who you are and what you want with a simple whiff.  A good scent will become your identity and leave lasting memories with those who experience it.  To get started finding a fragrance you’ll need to know just a few basics. laws of leanness : eat before bed

September 6, 2006 by Cash · 1 Comment

Men’s Health has always been great about providing simple, bullet point style lists of things you can do to improve your health.

One that I’ve recently rediscovered is their “10 laws of leanness”.  #9 on the list is “eat before bed”

If you’re trying to build muscle while losing weight, you may need some food right before sleep to keep your body from breaking down muscle tissue as you snooze.  Planning this snack will help you resist the temptation to inhale chocolate fudge cake at midnight.

If you’re trying to gain weight, your bedtime snack will help you maximize muscle growth.

In either case, limit this snack to about 500 calories.  A half cup of ice cream with some nuts and fruit is a nice way to end the day.  Don’t make this snack too high in protein, though; that can kick your brain into overdrive, creating intense dreams and waking you up.

I can honestly say since incorporating this into my nightly routine I’ve seen increased muscle definition, and more importantly, have been sleeping far more soundly.  Two solid benefits from such a simple change.

five artists you should know : part 1, roy lichtenstein

American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein was best known for his colorful, large scale representations of comic book panels.

The style he sensationalized used “Benday Dots” a process which

is similar to Pointillism. Depending on the effect, color and optical illusion needed, small colored dots are closely-spaced, widely-spaced or overlapping. Magenta dots, for example, are widely-spaced to create pink. 1950s and 1960s pulp comic books used Benday dots in the four process colors (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black) to inexpensively create shading and secondary colors such as green, purple, orange and flesh tones.

Benday dots were considered the hallmark of American artist Roy Lichtenstein, who enlarged and exaggerated them in many of his paintings and sculptures

Hardly an overnight success, Lichtenstein toiled in a variety of jobs from window decorator to art instructor for well over a decade after graduating from Ohio State University.  In his own words, he sought to create art that was as ‘artificial as possible.’ Read more

Manhole Cufflinks

I find the term manhole a bit suggestive, be it juvenile. Anyway, when I saw these cufflinks on luxist, I immediately fell in love. I think cufflinks, like socks, give subtle clues to your personality. I once had a pair of ben sherman crest cufflinks that I felt close to, but I broke them while karate chopping my friends in the arm one evening. These manhole cufflinks could easily replace my boring kenneth cole french cuff kissers. Check out the whole series at cufflinks.com.

Review: Gray Kangaroo

Gray Kangaroo
If you’re a budding boozehound like me (under the tutelage of a drunken master… err, sherpa), you may find yourself recoiling in horror at your monthly liquor expenditures. And if you entertain friends at your place often, keeping the drinks flowing as a good host is wont to do, then it’s doubly horiffic. Read more

how to tip : an insider’s guide

Coming from a service industry background I thought I would do a quick post on how and when to tip.

Many people just don’t know the when and why of tipping.

As an Urban Monarch, a man of style and class, I would hope that this is something you will take care in reading and learning.

Something to remember is this: In most states, waiters and bartenders do not make very much as far as an hourly wage goes. Waiters for the most part make about $2.15 an hour and bartenders typically make around $6.50 an hour. Read more
