I study in the United States and even i can make up a 20 reasons not to go to NYC or 20 reasons to go there. The point is.. this list of reasons is meant to potray dubai in bad light. Even in places like Geneva there are toilets that are worse than what u can imagine and that too in the middle of the main city but then there are toilets that are extremely hygenic. The only few points that are right in the list are.. yes it gets hot..its desert for christs sake.. but every place in the city is equipped with air conditioners... so its only as uncomfortable as it is spending a winter in NYC. Also, being in a muslim country.. Dubai is liberal to allow u to wear ure shorts or micro mini's and its not compulsory for the arab women to wear what they do... they do it by choice. and the alcohol serving pubs, hotels, restaurants etc are every 100 meters... by no means HANDFUL. The government does block Adult sites.. its an islamic country.. and its justified. and unless you are a perv you wouldnt really care whether u can access xxx.com VOIP is working... skype or whatever. works perfectly fine. i use it. the point about cops is SO UNTRUE... i am sick of the cops everywhere. those bastards are waiting to catch u and fine u... and having cameras is better than a cop chasing you as such pursuits have proven to be dangerous for the other ppl on the roads. Television... you know now i am thinking if the person who wrote the 20 reasons actually went to dubai. i for one have 350 channels at home... and they air everything old and new. Taxi drivers smell.. why was this person so up close and personal with the Taxi driver.. and its not like the drivers in manhattan dont... and they carry a gun.. so now who is dangerous ? yes.. speeding is an emariti and expat sport.. even i tail gate.... everywhere the world .. tokyo.. US.. etc... street racing happens.... some ppl get caught some dont.. whats the big deal? and about environment friendly... firstly gas guzzling SUV's.. we all know americans are the one who drive the BIG 8 cylinder SUV's.. in dubai most SUV's are 6 cylinders... and the palm islands destroying CORAL... dubai barely had any oyster beds.. its HOT.. life doesnt florish like in australia or sumthing. and first u complain that its hot... so we give u A/C's... then u complain tht they cause green house gasses.... dont heaters in a cold place like NYC do the same. just ignore this article.. and come to dubai and see for ureself!! this list is only meant to potray dubai negatively. if it was as bad as it sounds, the number of people migrating to dubai wouldnt be increasing exponentially. Dubai has a very twisted and false modern perception by most of us who think it's just pretty islands and 7-star hotels. The government caters to rich foreigners since their oil dependent economy will fall once the supply is depleted. Laborers and foreigners seeking work are treated as second class citizens and hardly have any rights. The government can force lower-class citizens to move away from the developing part of UAE and moved further away from their land. But sure, it's a nice tourist desination for a weeks stay.
